If the Del Ad icon is not shown in the Internet Explorer address bar, there may be one or more of the following problems:

You are using "pinned sites" in Windows 7 or Windows 8.

Windows 7 and Windows 8 have a feature called pinned sites, which allows you to pin websites to the Windows taskbar. By design, Internet Explorer will not load any add-ons, such as Del Ad, when a pinned site is used. This is a restriction set by Microsoft.

To run Internet Explorer with Del Ad enabled, start the Internet Explorer by clicking the Internet Explorer icon from the Windows task bar.

You are using Metro Internet Explorer in Windows 8.

If you start Internet Explorer from the new Windows 8 Start Screen by clicking the Internet Explorer tile, you will start the fullscreen Metro Internet Explorer, aka. 'Windows 8 style' Internet Explorer. By design, the Metro Internet Explorer will not load any add-ons, such as Del Ad. This is a restriction set by Microsoft.

To run Internet Explorer with Del Ad enabled, start the Desktop Internet Explorer by clicking the Internet Explorer icon from the Windows task bar.

You are using "InPrivate Browsing" mode.

By default, Internet Explorer does not load any add-ons when you use the InPrivate Browsing mode. If you wish to use Del Ad with InPrivate Browsing, do the following:

  1. In Internet Explorer, press Alt-X to open the Tools menu, and then click Internet options.
  2. On the tab Privacy, uncheck the checkbox Disable toolbars and extensions when InPrivate Browsing starts.
  3. Click OK to apply the setting and close the dialog, and then restart Internet Explorer.

Del Ad is not enabled within Internet Explorer add-ons

Internet Explorer allows you to enable or disable add-ons on an individual basis. If the Del Ad addon does not run, it may not be enabled. To check whether Del Ad is enabled, do the following:

  1. In Internet Explorer, press Alt-X to open the Tools menu, and then click Manage add-ons.
  2. In the list of add-ons, locate the entry MGTEK Del Ad. If this entry is not present, Del Ad is not installed.
  3. If the status of the Del Ad add-on is Disabled, right-click the entry and click Enable.
  4. Click OK to apply the setting and close the dialog, and then restart Internet Explorer.

Third-party browser extensions are disabled.

By default, Internet Explorer loads all add-ons, but it is possible to disable loading of third-party browser extensions. Make sure add-ons are enabled by running this procedure:

  1. In Internet Explorer, press Alt-X to open the Tools menu, and then click Internet options.
  2. On the tab Advanced, check the checkbox Enable third-party browser extensions.
  3. Click OK to apply the setting and close the dialog, and then restart Internet Explorer.

You have removed the Del Ad icon.

If you have chosen to hide the Del Ad icon from the Internet Explorer address bar, you can enable the icon again by doing the following:

  1. In Internet Explorer, press CTRL-SHIFT-A to open the Del Ad menu, and then click Options.
  2. On the tab Settings, uncheck the box Hide Del Ad toolbar icon.
  3. Click OK to apply the setting and close the dialog.
